1. Who We Are
Wisprs ("we") provides AI transcription software for audio and video. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our website and Service (wisprs.co).
2. Information We Collect
We collect: (a) Account information you provide when signing up (e.g. email, name), managed by Clerk; (b) Usage data such as transcription minutes, feature usage, and billing-related data, including via Polar for subscriptions; (c) Content you upload (audio, video) and the resulting transcripts and AI-derived outputs (summaries, chapters, action items, etc.), which we process to provide the Service and store in accordance with our systems and retention practices.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide, operate, and improve the Service; to process transactions and send transactional emails (e.g. via Resend for notifications); to enforce our terms and protect security; and to comply with law. We do not sell your personal data or your content. We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Sharing and Third-Party Services
We use service providers including Clerk (authentication and OAuth), Polar (billing and subscriptions), Resend (email delivery), ElevenLabs (speech-to-text and text-to-speech), configured AI model providers for requested generated outputs, and storage, hosting, monitoring, and security providers. These providers process data as needed to run the Service. When you connect Wisprs to a third-party AI host such as ChatGPT or Claude, that host receives the tool inputs and results you choose to exchange with it under the host provider's own terms and privacy policy. We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and safety.
5. AI Hosts, OAuth, and Connected Tools
A connected AI host uses OAuth to request specific permissions such as reading transcripts, starting transcription, exporting, searching your library, or generating transcript outputs. Wisprs verifies the connected user, tenant, client, scopes, role, and product entitlement on each request. We store the authorization grant and security, operation, usage, and cost records needed to provide and protect the connection; we do not store raw OAuth access tokens in tool-operation records. At your request, tool results may include bounded transcript excerpts, search snippets, generated outputs, or a short-lived private export resource, which the AI host may place into your conversation. You can revoke a connected grant through the available account or host controls. Revocation stops new authorized access but does not delete data already sent to or retained by the host.
6. Browser Extension and Meeting Recording
The Wisprs browser extension records audio only when you explicitly start a recording. With your permission it captures the audio of the current browser tab (for example a Google Meet, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams call) and, if you grant microphone access, your microphone. Recorded audio is uploaded in encrypted transit to your Wisprs account, where it is assembled, transcribed, and stored as part of your content under this policy; short-lived audio segments may be held temporarily in your browser’s local storage until upload completes and are then removed. The extension stores your preferences and a technical session/install identifier locally and sends requests only to wisprs.co to provide the service. It does not read page content, browsing history, or capture anything while idle. We do not sell or share extension user data, and we use it only to provide and improve the transcription features you request (consistent with the Chrome Web Store Limited Use requirements). You are responsible for complying with applicable recording laws, including obtaining consent from meeting participants where required.
7. Retention and Deletion
We retain your data as long as your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. Retention may vary by plan and product area. You can delete your content and account; we will process deletions in line with our data retention policy. Some data may remain in backups for a limited period before being overwritten.
8. Security
We use encryption in transit and at rest and follow industry practices to protect your data. You are responsible for safeguarding your account credentials.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal data, or to object to or restrict certain processing. You can use the dashboard to access, export, and delete your content. For account or other personal data requests, contact us at tosh@getwisprs.com. If you are in the EU/EEA or UK, you may also have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.
10. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication (e.g. Clerk session), security, and to improve the Service. For details, see our Cookie Policy.
11. Children
The Service is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children; if you believe we have done so, please contact us.
12. Changes and Contact
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time; we will post the revised version and, where appropriate, notify you. For privacy-related questions, contact tosh@getwisprs.com.
